Here we have the very first guide book for Disneyland in California. Walt Disney wanted people could buy it as souvenir on the opening day.

But the construction was taken place right on until opening, there is no chance to get into park to take photographs. So all of the illustrations in the guide book are drawings at what the attraction is going to look like.

Walt Disney also said I want this to be very inexpensive. So everyone will buy one, and they will take it home and they will put it on the table in their house. Their friends, their relatives and their neighbours will see it and they will all go to Disneyland too.
It was sold at USD 25 cents.

Of course it causes a lot to publish this, but Walt Disney was very smart when he came to Marketing. He realized that if this wasn’t expensive, everyone would buy one.

As soon as they had a chance they got a photographer into the park and started to take some photographs. So this is the second version of the Disneyland guide book. It was from the fall of 1955, a few months after the opening. By this time of course they had a chance to get in and take some pictures. Looks very bare, the trees hadn’t grown yet. (Laughing)

The one thing that impressed me so much about Hong Kong Disneyland is, as I was walking around the park yesterday, how beautiful the landscape is. They, obviously, got trees are that already grown up and planted, which they didn’t do it in Disneyland
